This vacation apartment accommodates three generations of a large family. To this end, a one bedroom apartment was converted into a two bedroom apartment. The existing kitchen is now a children’s guest room. The former dining room is now an open kitchen. With flexibility in mind, the master bedroom sleeps a couple or two siblings while the living room sofa folds out for the extra grand children. An open dining room, kitchen and living room makes the most of holiday gatherings. Custom millwork in the living room stores while serving as end tables for the seating group. It is truly a warm weather refuge for a New York family. The project was accomplished with a very reasonable budget. A mix of high/low, custom and retail is executed with smart planning, durable finishes, elegant details and exuberant style.
