Silverado Home
Shawback calls it the “bubble gate”; designed in house and fabricated with a local metal worker, the entrance to the home allows light to sprinkle into the side yard, creating an effervescent moment at the threshold. This same lightness permeates the project, a small-scale renovation with a clean, bright palette made rich through a playful deployment of color and a nuanced array of textiles and materials. Even when pulling from the same material palette, as in the use of wood throughout the home, careful variances in finish, tone, and grain add a subtle depth to an otherwise neutral palette that brings to the forefront the surrounding landscape of Napa’s rolling green fields.
