Masterplan Designed by Katie Garman 2/5/15
The Goal:
Make a complete and exciting style transition! Moving from Southern California to St. Helena, the client decided she was ready for a change. Leaving Beach style behind, an Arts and Crafts Mission look was desired for her new digs. The aging driftwood and wicker furniture, with sun damaged fabric, needed to be replaced. The addition of comfortable chairs was desired to provide adequate seating for future entertaining of family and friends.
The Challenge:
Create a warm, welcoming and comfortable environment while incorporating existing pieces smoothly into the new Arts and Crafts look. Choose design elements that will convey the client’s personality.
The Success Story:
The designer’s choice of a soft color palette, mixing with a variety of new wood tones in the mission pieces, compliments the existing furniture beautifully. Two chairs in the main room are covered with a fabulous and colorful fabric inspired by the client’s love of birds. The pattern is playful and a very personal design touch that adds a fun and cheerful feel to the space. These chairs in combination with a Stickley Monterey Mist rug, grouped in front of the cozy fireplace, beckon you to gather and enjoy. The completed project presents a comfortable and welcoming home, with personality, that the client will enjoy for years to come.
