FourFront Design, Inc. (as Thurston Design Group, LLP) worked as a consultant to participate in the design and construction administration of the parking structure on Broadway Street in historic Deadwood, South Dakota.

The challenges faced in designing the architectural elements for this project were two-fold; the structure had to complement the historic character of Deadwood and an accurate representation of the building design needed to be presented to the Deadwood Historic Preservation Commission and the public. FourFront Design, Inc. chose to use a solid-model, computer-generated rendering of the facade design to accomplish both goals. The result, when placed on actual photographs of the site, showed in detail how the building, as a whole, would fit the site and how a parking structure can be made to have a historic appearance. This rendering was a crucial aspect of gaining support and funding for the facility.

The new four-level, cast-in-place, post-tensioned concrete facility provides 420 much-needed parking spaces in this quaint historic mining and gambling town.
