The Sneigowski’s were opening up a residential care facility for elderly residents in their home. They wanted to turn their living room into a welcoming and comfortable community space where the residents could visit with their guests, watch tv, read in a quiet corner and do activities and play games. I started by lightening up the walls and infusing some color in the back of the room to open up the space. The budget was very tight so we kept the client’s couch and added pillows to soften the color and blend it into the space. We used vintage second hand finds for other needed furniture and decor and refinished and recovered to stay within the budget. I created an area for games, a small library with rocker in the office area near the back door where there was a lot of natural light. I created a gallery wall with the clients pictures and items and hung new curtains. It ended up being a very sweet, comfortable and safe place for the new residents!
