Farmhouse Chic

Winner of Interior Design Society’s 2014 Designer of the Year Awards:
Foyers – 1st Place
Kitchens 50K & Above – 2nd Place

The designers were presented with the challenge of transforming a generic home built in the eighties into an old farmhouse, enriched with history and architectural detail. Fortunately, the Alaskan based designers and their clients all grew up on farms located across the country and were able to share stories and memories of their family homesteads. Recollections of architectural details, colors, textures, and lighting were all discussed throughout the initial meetings; however, it was up to the designers to infuse these details into the current architecture void of any character. The process off injecting an 80’s home with traditional features of a historical home and the modern amenities of new construction became quite the balancing act. Per the designers’ proposal, a plan was instrumented to recreate a chic farmhouse design for this Alaskan home perched above the Pacific Ocean
