Do you know spaces like this are difficult to achieve if you’re dealing with occupied spaces? It’s much easier to come in and layer more design clutter when the owner feels something is missing. But often what’s missing is this clean sweep.

Empty the room, eliminate every furnishing you don’t love and give all surfaces a fresh coat of paint. One of my absolute favorite tricks (as you see in C&B’s work) is to use 1 white shade for everything. Trim, ceilings, cabinets, whatever it may be. You get seamless flow. Don’t ever underestimate the power of a fresh white ceiling either- that will be my next post.
