FRENCH DOCUMENTS

Cary’s collection of collage/paintings on antique French documents, are decorative pieces which bridge the past to the present. Each painting begins with an original antique French document; a letter, marriage license, property documentation or a children’s cahier or notebook. The fluid lines, stunning typography and ink strokes are inspiring. By painting layers of subtle colors and applying gold leaf paper, Cary puts a contemporary spin on an old world masterpiece. Until recently they were represented and sold at the San Francisco Design Center as well as being included in an exhibition in 2006 in the Marais area of Paris. When framed in large white mats and curated in a series, they are charming and timeless. Custom orders are available upon request by email
