The owners of this two story 1950’s ranch thought white walls would make their home look modern, but they found that all white walls made their home look “blah”, it had no story.

To help define the color scheme for their interiors, I asked them to tell me about a personal belonging in their home that they loved. Both smiled and pointed to a vibrant colored Moroccan rug. The wife explained, “When we got engaged, we took a trip to Morocco. We loved the red walls of Marrakesh and the blue of Fez. My husband carried this rug on his back out of the medina and throughout the country during our trip.” Given how much they loved it, I chose that rug as the inspiration for their home’s new color palette.

For the “reds of Marrakesh” I chose Benjamin Moore’s Autumn Cover. While technically more of an orange than a red, this color stays fresh and radiates warmth.
