Our fearless clients reside in New York City, but entrusted us with the renovation of their kitchen in a historic row home in the storied Georgetown neighborhood of D.C. What was once a dark space on the home’s lower level, is now awash in light. Moody black cabinetry was topped with durable quartz along the perimeter, while handsome English Walnut tops the island. In lieu of upper cabinetry, Lindsay designed a pair of custom iron and walnut open shelves in collaboration with a Brooklyn based artisan, to keep the kitchen feeling open and fresh.

A breakfast nook was established just off the kitchen, anchored by a built-in banquette with family friendly upholstery—a classic ticking stripe with a laminated treatment. Modern meeds traditional with a Saarinen tulip table and bentwood bistro chairs. Herringbone floors and un-lacquered brass hardware throughout give nod to the home’s history.
