This room already featured a built in bar with Mediterranean styling. The other half of the space looked sparse with just a small table and chairs. To add comfort, function, and style we created a high upholstered banquette flanked by narrow bookcases. In keeping with the style of the existing bar we wanted to create a space reminiscent of an authentic tavern near the Mediterranean Coast in France or Italy. The 19th Century hand tooled leather chairs are imported from Lyon France. The tavern table was crafted from reclaimed materials, the top being a carved panel from a church confessional and the base a wrought iron garden fence. The bar is in the lower level of the home with no windows. We installed a photographic mural with stone and ivy. The wine cellar mural visually expands the space and the natural scenery belies the subterranean location. The home was open to tour for the Bucks County Designer House & Gardens. A guest commented that this space reminded her of the HBO hit TV series “Game of Thrones”. This home bar and lounge is perfect for entertaining!
