Sophisticated Loft Living in Pittsburgh
Who Lives Here: Daniel Shapiro, Merchandise Manager for American Eagle Outfitters
Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Size: Approximately 1,000 Square Feet
That’s Interesting: Converted for loft living in the 80s, the building was once a chocolate factory, a department store, and a paper-storage facility.
When Daniel Shapiro found his Pittsburgh loft, he was inspired by what he saw. A large open space with high ceilings, ample natural light, and amazing views, it ticked every box on his wish list. The challenge of arranging an open industrial space soon became apparent, however, as there existed no partitions or divisions between areas. “It was very important to me to make sure that the bedroom was separate from the rest of the loft”, he explains. Armed with a honed sense of style and a diverse collection of pieces gathered from his travels, Shapiro enlisted the help of interior designer Karen Anderson, of KEA Design.
