This was my former studio apartment in Oakland. It was a relatively open floor plan with a sleeping loft, which I’ve always wanted to both live in and decorate! I love the idea of climbing a ladder to sleep up high at night, like a fort or secret hiding place. Sleeping lofts are also wonderful in that you never have to worry about guests walking through or hanging out in your sleeping space.

When I moved in, the walls were beige and the trim was dark brown. To really brighten up the space, I painted the walls Benjamin Moore Gray Owl, which is a really lovely pastel, warm french gray. All the trim and the sleeping loft was painted in Behr’s Ostrich Feather, a soft white. The kitchen walls were painted in my favorite blue-green hue using Martha Stewart’s Beach Glass.
