This apartment is part of a two-family home in Malden. The existing conditions showed signs of having suffered multiple transformations over the years with very limited success.

Now occupied by a young professional, the house needed to accommodate his recent change of lifestyle. The project takes a conservative approach, which is to selectively reframe different zones of the house in order to open up the space and achieve greater spatial fluidity. By reducing the size of the circulation areas, the project expanded and improved the bathroom, and therefore enabled the reconfiguration of the kitchen/dining space.
