This basement room was so dank and dark that the children refused to go downstairs! With a mixture of new furnishings incorporated with special antique finds, the space is now utilized as both a play space and a craft room. The upper walls were painted with a calico white. Surprisingly, the addition of a flower pot red enhances the warmness of the room as the white walls and furnishings offset it. A perfect country farmhouse feel for this sweet family. Creativity was necessary as the access to the basement was not large enough to accommodate many furniture pieces to be brought into the room. The answer was high-end sofas that required just a little assembly and covered with matalesse slip covers which are also extremely sensible in a kid friendly area.
