A playfully sophisticated touch updated this casual Manhattan living/family room and also a small eat-in kitchen nook. The challenge in the living area was to unite a large room which felt split in two by architectural beams and columns. This was done with carefully balancing color in the two sides of the room. In fact, the client’s existing oriental rug served as the inspiration for the choices of fabrics for the sofa, sofa cushions and chairs. The existing sofa and chairs were entirely reimagined, re-padded and reupholstered with high-end durable fabrics. A new custom rug provides an crisp and modern base for the refreshed room.
