NBC’s George to the Rescue
This Project entailed opening up the main living space for a young girl with cerebral palsy. The goal was to make the floor plan as open as possible, as she needs to be able to move comfortably in her wheelchair. Two walls were knocked down to make the living room, dining room and kitchen one open space. Additionally, chair lifts were added at all three stair locations to make for easier entrance and exit into and out of the home. We also customized a rail system for her bed so she is safe during sleeping hours and so that getting into and out of the bed is easier for mom and dad to assist with. In the kitchen we gave a beautiful facelift by painting the cabinets and installing new beautiful marble countertops with a glass subway backsplash. Mealtime will also be easier with the new custom banquette that was built to be multifunctional! For starters, feeding Abby will be easier as mom is able to sit next to her. Also, there is storage inside of the bench for any linens or dinnerware they wish to stow away. Lastly, there is shelving on the backend of the banquette providing additional storage. The Jackowski family not only has a beautiful main living space but its also functional for Abby and the family for years to come! It was a pleasure to collaborate with NBC’s George to the Rescue to create this space for this beautiful family!
