The apartment is a 3 bedroom top floor unit with a full rooftop garden. Originally designed in traditional style the renovation is an intervention rahther than a full scale gut renovation. Some walls were removed to improve the flow of the space and many originals details were kept intact. The kitchen metal cabinets were sandblasted and incorporated into modern pear wood cabinetry with corian countertops. All new cabinets are in modern style with combination of finishes. Living room wall units are partially in walnut combined with painted portions to blend with existing walls and reduce the scale of the unit. Furniture selection is driven by its transparency to underscope the spaciousness of the apartment but also the playfulness of shadows as the light fills the space thru skylights and large exterior windows. Some rooms such as kitchen have skylights that filter thru butalso illuminate the garden at night as the light have been placed within the pyramid stuctures that glow at night on the roof terrace above. The terrace provides fully landscape areas with cooking and dining areas including the outdoor shower. The proximity of Central Park brings a variety of birds, nesting and activity that adds to the vibrance and tranquility of the space.
