This 1911 Craftsman bungalow sits in the heart of Fort Worth, in the National Historic district of Fairmount. When the home was originally renovated, it was taken from a single story, containing two bedrooms and one bath, to a 2-level with three bedrooms and three baths. In bringing the structure up-to-date, care was taken to maintain the home’s original design and charm. Doors and molding, windows and flooring, were all maintained when possible. When furnishing, it was important to add contemporary comfort to arts and crafts esthetics. A pallet of a cool and soothing blue-green was added to neutral walls and white woodwork. The family’s love for color and “funky” artwork flows throughout the home. One of the highlights of the space is the large, welcoming front porch. Mirroring the same color scheme used throughout, this space is used frequently by the owners and their many community neighbors and guests. Fairmount hosts a historic homes tour every Mother’s Day weekend. This was one of the homes on tour in 2015.
