This central East Austin urban infill home was recently built by our friends at Austin Newcastle Homes. Open and airy, every room has plentiful access to natural light while appropriate roof overhangs and carefully placed windows maximize views, ensure privacy, and avoid excessive solar heat gain. The house is heated and cooled with an energy-efficient ground-loop geothermal system, while the building envelope is well-insulated with a combination of open-cell foam and blown-in-blanket cellulose. The metal roof is designed as a series of valleys to capture rainfall for irrigation.
