The client envisioned a dramatic but comfortable visual experience that promoted centralized conversation areas that were relaxing yet encompassed an artistic sophistication. The challenge of the project was to deliver a unique, edgy modern, transitional interior that captured the eclectic taste of the client while keeping the traditional architecture and rustic English facade in mind. To accomplish this, I enveloped the classic architecture in a combination a warm colors and rustic finishes with a direct contradiction of modern styled furnishings and artwork. Modern lighting and hardware was used in juxtaposition to the rustic wall finishes and rough cedar beamed ceilings. Each conversation area through out the space had a uniqueness to draw each visitor in, while the entirety of the home encompassed a repetition of elements to entice its viewers to explore further. Elements such as glass or mirror, rich eggplant hues and rust tones used in repetition created an entire composition and flow throughout the home. Shapes and lines such as circles and octagons were also repeated to connect the spaces, while creative blending of styles and finishes produced the modern eclectic sophistication desired by the client.
