Pioneer Square Loft gets New Life (Design)
This Pioneer Square loft was purchased by an East Coast baseball fan with a classic sense of style. It had been on the market for several years, having been last updated in the 90s, in a way that was pretty hard to see past. My client knew it could be something great but needed some help reinventing it.
We approached the project in two phases: finishes and furnishings.
By removing all of the vestiges of the 90s, we were able to start fresh. Wall-to-wall carpeting was removed, as was hundreds of pounds of sheet metal. The white painted ceilings were sandblasted to bring it back to its beautiful natural wood color, and the massive fireplace—which not only blocked all natural light, but cut up the space significantly–was removed from the center of the room. The dark and cramped kitchen was opened completely. The client was adamant that the stairs had to be completely rebuilt and this feature ended up being the centerpiece of the space.
