Jeff and Julie Hinkel opened Voltage Furniture Inc. in Cincinnati in 1989. Jeff, an architect by trade, combined his architectural experiences with his passion for design to create Voltage Inc. Voltage is the only retail store of its kind in the entire region specializing in modern high design furniture, lighting and contemporary accessories from Europe. With their business and clientele growing, Voltage needed to expand its showroom. Voltage moved into a New York loft-style renovated warehouse located in Oakley in 2001, growing sixfold, in terms of space. Voltage resides on the entire first and second floor, utilizing the vast showroom to give people the whole aura of a space using this type of furniture. The remaining 3rd, 4th and 5th floors of the building house other small businesses such as Renaissance Garden & Ornaments, The Appliance Loft and Wellage & Schaff Framing. The Voltage Lofts has become a complete design destination. Voltage is the destination for modern high design furniture, lighting and accessories from Europe.
