Shelley Nordlund is the only award winning Seattle-based interior designer who expertly uses feng shui, the art of placement in her designs. Her company, Transformations for Interiors works with home owners to update, remodel and build their homes and offices. Feng shui principles are used to convert the existing energy in your space to your advantage. Like the principles of design, feng shui fundamentals work with any look or style preference. Shelley became interested in feng shui as well as a design profession when friends and family asked for help in redesigning their homes “because your home feels so warm and welcoming.” Shelley regularly attends educational offerings through National Kitchen & Bath Association and Northwest Society of Interior Designers, updating her skills and learning about new products in the trade. She serves as Higher Education Committee chair for NWSID. Her membership in the International Feng Shui Guild keep her skills fresh and give her an amazing resource of practitioners, should a tricky problem arise. Her weekly blog, available for viewing right here on this site, explores various aspects of design and feng shui, and has had articles republished in All Things Healing, an online magazine. Shelley is quoted in other publications for her expertise on feng shui and interior design. Her background in teaching make her an excellent planner, worker and communicator, taking the worry, time, and headaches out of creating a space to meet her clients' unique needs. Shelley enjoys walking, whether it is on the sidewalks near home or in the woods of the Northwest. She also enjoys attending music concerts and theatre. She's an avid Washington Husky fan, attending football, volleyball and women's basketball games. Serving as an Adjunct Professor at Highline College in Des Moines, WA, Shelley teaches The History of Design to interior design and art majors. Covering a time period of 900 B.C.E. through today, the course incorporates the development of architecture and design throughout the world.
