Myra Kirby is a third-generation New Englander who grew up in Newport, Rhode Island, surrounded by its beautiful beaches, coastal cliffs and historic mansions. Growing up in a large family of seven children definitely fostered Myra's ability to make any space individualized yet entirely, attractively functional. Her mother was her earliest influence in design. “Despite living in a house full of kids and a large dog, our house was always organized and beautiful. Even if you were sharing a room with a sibling,” Myra says, “no matter how small your individual space, it became a reflection of your personal style. My mother taught me to make ‘big commitment’ decor decisions at a young age. She also showed me the importance of old versus new, frequenting auctions with a discerning eye, for lamps, rugs, furniture and art. This gave me an appreciation for the beauty in authentic antiques.”
