My name is Beth Sears, and I am the creator, owner, and lead designer for L. Harper Designs. I am married (17 years, woohoo!) to my best friend, Darrel, and mom to three amazing kiddos that keep me on my toes at all times. My love for all things interior design started in childhood, where I would rather rearrange and beautify my room than really anything else. At ten, my mom gave me the green light to pick out some wallpaper for an accent wall in my room. I was in heaven. I took that task beyond serious, perusing every wallpaper book in a local Ace Hardware store until I found the perfect print. I can still remember every detail of that cornflower blue and dusty rose print. Gotta love the 80’s. Fast forward a couple decades through graduations, marriage, career, and children, I still found that same joy in decorating, but it only remained a hobby. In January of 2013, life was going pretty well. I was staying home with the kids, and truly felt blessed to be able to do so, but to be honest I was stuck in a rut of boredom and monotony. I had just finished decorating my daughter’s nursery, and I remember dragging it out as long as possible because I had found so much joy in the process. It really never occurred to me to start a decorating business until one day while I was redecorating a room in my mind and fooling around with new furniture arrangements that the idea of what is now L. Harper Designs (named after my daughter in case you were wondering) began to form. Immediately, I began laying my ideas all out, brainstorming, planning on paper, and doing lots and lots of research on how to move forward with my business model. Scared out of my mind but lead more by the idea of creating for a living, I worked hard to make L. Harper Designs a reality. Four years later, and I am here to tell you that I am living the dream of that ten year old girl, picking out wallpaper left and right, and much, much more! Every day looks different, and every project brings wonderful challenges, but more importantly I am helping people. I love it!
