First and foremost, I have always been an artist. From the time I could walk I was making things, and I have been painting and drawing for most of my life. As a kid I made my own books, puppets, Halloween costumes, macrame plant hangers (yes, I’m that old) and I never met a hot glue gun I didn’t like. Creativity has always had a way of coming out of me whether I encourage it or not. It has never been something that I choose to do, it is simply something that I AM. So naturally, I graduated from art school and embarked on a long, lucrative, soul-crushing career in advertising. I made several attempts to quit and was almost successful the year that I worked for a small interior design firm, but was sidelined due to motherhood and, truth be told, I could never fully wrap my mind around the need for a $500 doorknob. Eventually I hit the wall and quit advertising for good. All I knew was that I wanted to do something that made me happy, that would feed my creative soul, and that would give back to the world. One career counselor, one business school program and one year later, I came full circle and realized that what I really am is a house whisperer.
