CHRISTINE MCMICHAEL has been a professional interior decorator in the Hudson Valley and tri-state region since 2001. Christine has worked with hundreds of clients as head decorator presiding over three large furniture galleries, which lead to her starting her own design company, Christine McMichael Interiors. She specializes in residential décor & design. Christine works closely with each client to combine her expertise and decorating skill with the client’s individual taste. “When I look at a space, I have the ability to look past its present state and see the space completely revitalized. I’m able to visualize all the potential each area has to offer and bring it to life. The key is to listen to each client, respect their needs, and design a space that works best for them and their family.” This talent was nurtured early on in life growing up in a historical home with parents that took pride in restoring and respecting its authenticity. “Throughout my childhood, I would be right there next to my parents at antique shops and auctions, watching closely and learning. Little did I know, this was the path I would choose later on in life.” After graduating high school, Christine entered college to obtain a business degree. While attending school a neighbor asked her for decorating advice and soon she began getting requests and referrals. This demand prompted her to pursue a decorating position at a local furniture store. She worked closely with the owners to develop a design business that became an integral part of the company’s success. While building this business she also obtained her certification in Interior Decorating and Design. While her certification is an important achievement, she credits most of her success to hands on experience. “There is no substitute for experience, working with hundreds of distinct spaces, textiles, fabrics and most exceed expectations time and time again.” Christine is passionate about design and decorating but finds her client relationships the most rewarding aspect of her career. Her greatest source of pride comes from referrals and recommendations over the years from her clients. Nothing means more to her than having her client “loving where they live.”
