Cecilia Walker grew up immersed in design. Having a mother as an interior designer, she spent her childhood surrounded by fabric, wallpaper books, blueprints and sketches. Because they had lived in different parts of the country, Cecilia was exposed to various regional aesthetics and often tagged along on trips to the design centers in Los Angeles, Chicago and Washington D.C.. At an early age, Cecilia paid attention to details — before the age of 10, she knew the difference between Louis XV and Louis XVI furniture, and was often found flipping over the corners of Persian rugs to examine the knots. Although her mother’s style had made a lasting impression, Cecilia set aside any aspirations to tackle architecture and interior design, and focused on other disciplines, graduating with a B.A. in Art History and Economics from Boston College. After a two-year stint working for a publishing company, Cecilia spent fourteen years in the fashion industry. Her experience ranged from Finance and Planning to Merchandising, Product Development and Production, and crossed over from corporate retail to manufacturing. She worked for companies such as Laura Ashley, Inc., Ann Taylor®, Levis®, Keds® and local designer, Hadley Pollet, giving her a multi-faceted background in home furnishings, apparel, footwear and accessories. While she continues to be passionate about fashion, her decision to leave the fast-paced industry led her into the field of interior design, launching Cecilia Walker Design in 2006. Fueled by the encouragement of her mentor and interior designer mother, she is fulfilling a dream that is true to her core. Her latest endeavor into fabric and wallcovering is another childhood wish that continues to challenge her creativity, bringing her back to sketching and product development. Cecilia is an Associate member of ASID. She loves yoga, great music, anytime near the ocean, but mostly being a mother to her four children — three, of which, are triplet girls. Cecilia's style is California surf meets New York black and is a mix of edginess with clean-lined simplicity. Her favorite neutral is a heathered grey. Her favorite place is Nantucket. She's an alternative girl at heart, but loves hip-hop. Three songs overplayed on her playlists are "Sing For The Moment" (Eminem), "Army of One" (Coldplay), and "Under Pressure" (Queen). In 2015, she competed with Tracy Foley (Water & Main) on a TV episode of "The Endless Yard Sale Showdown," in a race to find the most valuable antiques and vintage items.
