Cary Nowell has been a designer for over thirty years. After growing up in a family of artists and painters in San Francisco, she graduated from the California College of the Arts. With an entrepreneurial spirit, at a young age she started what became a nationally recognized children’s clothing company, Cary Children’s Clothes Inc., where she designed and manufactured a high end collection of children’s clothing, sold in better specialty and department stores such as Neiman Marcus, Bonwit Teller & Co., Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue, as well as top catalogues throughout the United States. For seventeen years, her children’s clothing collections, under the labels Cary, Baby Cary & Tini Kini swimwear, were treasured for their high quality, beautifully printed and woven fabrics. Each garment had a timeless European flair. For the past ten years, Cary has been styling interiors throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Her aesthetic is often recognized as having a crisp white palette, splashes of brilliant color, and simplicity. She is one of the most accomplished home stagers for the real estate market in Marin County and the San Francisco Bay Area. She and her family lived in Paris when the children were younger, which is where she draws much of her inspiration. Though broad in her appreciation of global design, much of her work reflects a European sensibility and style.
