April has worked in Interior Design for 25 years, seventeen of which she has owned and managed AKL Professional Interiors. She is a graduate of Ohio University with an Associates Degree in Arts and a Bachelors of Science in Interior Design. Upon graduation she took a month tour of Europe to study architecture. And that interest in architecture brought her to historic Charleston, South Carolina to begin her career. She has also developed and taught the Interior Design program at Trident Technical College for over twenty years. Her style of designing is to listen, observe, and develop a design plan that is specific to the client’s needs. April is known for her “wow” factor. She likes to incorporate unusual architectural elements, unique draperies, custom furniture, and uses color and accessories to complement the design. Her goal is for each client’s home or business to be unique. April can work from the planning stages of construction to the final small touches that personalize a space.
