Ann Kenkel formed Ann Kenkel Interiors full service Design firm 30 years ago out of a life long passion for architecture and interior design. Kenkel’s family traveled the globe extensively as a young adult and she was exposed to, and intrigued by, international architecture and design. She has an understanding and flair of the aesthetics of many cultures. Her projects are international, her clients are life long clients and retain her for not only their primary residences but, their vacation homes. Her abilities are far reaching from being very efficient with space in a Manhattan pied aterre to designing a ballroom for a 25,000 square foot Estate, an Aspen Lodge, Palm Beach snowbird retreat, even consulting on historic preservation of a 16th C English Manor Estate or 12th C French Chateau. Kenkel however was a political science and communications major in college and her career life began in government relations in the “C” suite of a major defense contracting corporation and then to assume role of Assistant Director of a powerful crisis management/lobbying firm at the age of 27. But, this was not her passion, it was architecture and interior design. During these years, Kenkel spent most of her spare time decorating her home and helping her friends do the same. The Washington Post did a cover story on Kenkel and her roommate for their clever ability to elegantly decorate a rental home.
