Of The Essence is a home decor and interior design company based out of Wilmington, NC. We offer custom decorative services, from painting to remodeling to consulting, for home or business. Of The Essence Designs was founded by Tara Gilmore in New Jersey in 2004. In 2007, Tara relocated to Wilmington, NC where she and her interior design team has continuously offered home decor and interior design services up and down the east coast. Tara Gilmore was trained by the Masters at The Finishing School in New York. There, she was educated in Venetian Plasters, Surface Textures, Gilding and Metal Leaf, Faux Bois, Cabinet and Furniture Refinishing, and Glazing. These high-end interior design services are entirely custom with environmentally friendly, non-toxic paints and finishes supplied only to current and former students from The Finishing School. Her education plus over a decade of work experience in interior design are shown in the quality of her work today. In 2014, Tara on-boarded Shannon Gilmore, her husband, and was able to expand the company’s interior design services to include carpentry, drywall, molding and more. Shannon has worked in carpentry and construction since 1996. His extensive knowledge has allowed him to incorporate creativity into his trade as he now specializes in custom carpentry, remodeling and renovations.
