Like the Greek key, an iconic image that transcends the aesthetic, Missie Fahey, Inc. is a residential design firm rooted firmly in tradition. Based in Westchester County, N.Y. just 30 minutes north of Manhattan, Missie has been in the business of design for more than a decade. "I love what I do and always have," she says. "As a designer I bring that passion and focus for getting jobs done." Missie has worked with venerable and varied Manhattan firms including F.Schumacher and Co., Bunny Williams, and Cullman and Kravis, but it was with Tonin MacCallum Inc. that she learned all aspects of a successful design business. Her degree from Parsons School of Design complemented the high end design projects she was exposed to at the Upper East side residential firm. As a mentor, it was Tonin who gave Missie the opportunity and the confidence to truly thrive and build the roster that would shape her future as an independent design resource. "When I began bringing in my own clients, I knew it was time to venture out on my own," she says. Missie opened for business in 1999 and has served clients in Manhattan, Rye, Fairfield County, Ct., Texas and various mid Atlantic states. Born and raised in Virginia, she brings an easy going and genteel manner to her work. Even when space may invite a complete re-do, Missie finds ways to repurpose and re-shift to achieve a desirable end result. "Each job is unique and personal, and my proposed solutions reflect my client's stated needs and their underlying sensibility.
