Dottie Martin started the business in 1978 out of her home, sewing for a local drapery company. Later, this company was bought out by the Martin’s. After sewing at home for several years, she opened her first store in Intercourse, Pa. At that time, only window treatments for residential projects were offered by Martin’s Draperies & Interiors. But several years later, a full service interior design business became available in Lititz, at which time that business was also purchased and the name was then changed to Martin’s Interior Design Studio. Wallpaper, furniture and accessories were added to the services provided.
