Timeless. Collected. Chic. These are the words that have been used to describe the work of Kim Nielsen. For Kim, design has always been her passion. She attended school for design at FSU in 1996 and then AIU in Atlanta, where she is from, and graduated with a degree in Interior Design in 2000. Kim apprenticed under a well known Atlanta Designer for a few years until deciding it was time to go off on her own.. Her successful, high end build/design business was established in 2004 in historic Virginia-Highland and Morningside of downtown Atlanta. Old homes is where her heart is. She appreciates architecture and history, which led her to the gorgeous city of Charleston, SC. Kim moved to Charleston in 2011 with her husband, a well known musician, and her three children. Because of her love of Design, she kept her business going, concentrating on interiors. She has developed an abundant amount of relationships in the industry over the years and is very knowledgeable. She attends all design shows, has resources all over the country and travels to the Atlanta Design Center and Palm Beach, 2 cities close to her heart, for several of her finds. Kim is loving incorporating coastal elements and has always appreciated the Art and creative artists that Charleston has to offer. Homes Staging, Model Homes, and Vacation Rental Properties are other things she does well, as she is well aware of everything it takes to sell a house or to keep your investment booked and achieve a higher rate. She works with real estate agents in the area and is part of the Daniel Island Real Estate Team, Island Park Properties, as their Stager. Kim has also been published in national magazines with her outstanding kichen and bath designs. Kim's designs are timeless and classic from traditional to modern, masculine to feminine rooms. She believes in the juxtaposition of styles as well, giving it a more up to date feel. She believes in designing well-functioning, meaningful spaces that have personality and are not too trendy or over decorated. In 5-10 years from now, she wants you to still love your space. Her rooms are relaxed and lived in and make you feel like you never want to leave. Her rooms are collected. Kim does not believe in creating spaces that look like you went to the store up the street and bought everything at once. She truly wants her client's houses to become homes with everything around them having meaning, whether it is properly displaying a collection, incorporating a family heirloom, or a painting that is close to your heart. In our homes today, uniqueness has become the ultimite luxury. This Interior Designer loves bringing you what you have not seen before, even in the local stores and that is why she said yes to accepting an invitation to be a part of a small retail space within Charleston's new Indigo Market. (Vintage, Antique and New furnishings and decor) Kim brings you her favorite finds that she knows you would enjoy from her travels, such as Palm Beach and within in the design industry.
