Kate works with items you already own to ensure that your home is a representation of who you are and at the same time will make your home comfortable, functional and incorporate a WOW factor! Her many years of European living is embued into her design principles. She graduated from the University of Manchester England with an Education degree majoring in Dramatic Arts. She completed her design studies at The Interior Design Institute of Southern California. Her first design job was in Laguna Beach CA, where she redesigned her own residence and rapidly flourished as a designer in the local community. A Laguna Beach home she worked on for two years was published in Romantic Homes. In 2004 Kate and her husband Patrick relocated to the Sonoma Wine Country where they purchased a 1908 farm house in need of ‘tender loving care’ located in the Alexander Valley. They transformed the original 900 sq feet into a 2200 sq foot Wine Country farmhouse where you are invited to visit Kate in her design studio. In addition to her personal residences in Laguna Beach and Geyserville, she had renovated a property in Victoria, British Columbia and is currently renovating a historic home in the town of Mendocino, California. Kate calls her style “farmhouse chic” with a juxtaposition of modern elements, natural and green products mixed with antiques or flea market finds…..she is certainly not one who hews convention! Kate says “Fantasy is why people come to designers and I like to let my clients personalities rule…I try to find what their world is and give it to them. I do not want my clients to be slaves to their house so I emphasize practicality whether it is for adults, kids or animals.” Kate also specializes in event design and table décor.
