Karen Garlanger, NCIDQ: Merging her passion for architecture and design, Karen Garlanger has a knack for creating dreamy interiors. Over the years, her education, worldly travels and work experience have refined her thinking on the definition of “space” and its endless possibilities. As a result, her refined skills have breathed new life into residential and commercial properties for more than a decade. Since opening her namesake firm, Karen Garlanger Designs in 2010, Karen believes in the collaborative effort between client and designer, to produce truly meaningful spaces. Karen's work has appeared in several leading design publications including Women's Day Magazine, Distinctive Kitchen Solutions, and more recently in Food Network Magazine. She has also been a featured designer on HGTV's website. A native of St. Joseph, Michigan, Garlanger studied interior design at Western Michigan University and architecture at the University of Miami. She holds both a Bachelor and Master degree in Architecture from Andrews University, is a certified interior designer (NCIDQ) and has taught the third year interior design studio at Andrews University. Penny Tanis: As a designer at Karen Garlanger Designs, Penelope ensures that each and every project reflects the needs and the desires of the client. She believes that great design is the result of collaboration and listening carefully to the client. Her projects have ranged from residential to commercial and have included new construction,additions and complete renovations. While employed by the Design Department of OSI (Outback Steakhouse International), Penelope had experience designing for Carrabba's Italian Grill, Paul Lee Chinese Kitchen, Lee Roy Selmon's and Cheeseburger in Paradise restaurants. She has recently been published in Food Network Magazine while with Karen Garlanger Designs. Penny holds both a Bachelor Degree in Interior Design and Certificate of Furniture Design from Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University. She has won both ASID and Crystal Achievement Awards and is a registered Interior Designer.
