Joanna Frank is a graduate of the University of Illinois and attended the MFA Programme at the Northern Media School of Sheffield Hallam University-UK and began her career creating film sets in the Art Department for major motion pictures. Her film work includes High Fidelity, Save the Last Dance, and The Hunted. Upon returning to Chicago from England & the west coast, Joanna exchanged her career in set decorating for residential interiors, working for a Chicago based designer & furniture manufacturer. She then spent over three years at the legendary firm of Scott Himmel, Architect P.C. where her work expanded in scope and sophistication, including high-end residential as well as commercial interiors. In 2009 she concurrently began working on her own spaces for clients, and in 2010 opened the firm Joanna Frank, I.D., working on downtown apartments, hotels, and multi-million dollar homes. Joanna opened her New York City office in 2011 to better serve clients on the East Coast, and built-out a modern loft space to house her new studio in Chinatown. Joanna's style and custom furniture resources help to create unique modern spaces, layering colors & textures to compose a chic & comfortable look that reflects the client's own personality and lifestyle. As well as being a rare talent, Joanna is a pleasure to work with and continually educates herself on design history, contemporary art & collective design to ensure that each project is current and exciting. Joanna Frank was nominated as "ONE TO WATCH" by the Chicago Merchandise Mart in 2009, and in 2018 Joanna Frank, I.D. LLC made the Luxe "GOLD LIST" of Interior Design, listing her among New York City's top decorators.
