I’m Kristen Siefkin, founder of Interior Design Alchemy and a graduate of Heritage School of Interior Design. For nearly 20 years, I’ve been in the business of using my unique brand of creativity to bring my clients’ vision to life. I have a long history of storytelling through design, beginning with my position at the successful McMenamins hotels, pubs, and breweries. There, I learned about creative vision, historic preservation and the importance of infusing a little whimsy into everything I do. Later, as vice president of a bi-coastal creative agency, I designed hundreds of successful creative campaigns for major international consumer brands. In 2013, The Portland Business Journal recognized me as one of its “40 under 40”, an award given to young professionals at the top of their respective fields. In 2012, my former husband and I opened the neighborhood restaurant, Tabor Tavern. Housed in a former convenience store, we transformed the space from cold and characterless to cozy and cohesive. Three years later, we opened our second venue, Swift and Union in an up-and-coming neighborhood. Working in conjunction with fellow interior designers and owners of the amazing retail store Boys Fort, we devised a warm and welcoming interior that is part English tavern, part French bistro with modern industrial touches. While my restaurants tend toward the traditional and my home toward modern, I understand and appreciate a variety of décor styles and take inspiration from fashion, art and travel. Using industry connections, I’m able to source the perfect pieces for every project. My focus is on commercial, hospitality and residential projects of all sizes and scopes. In addition to my design certificate, I hold a bachelor of arts from of the University of Oregon. In my free time, I can be found ambling through secondhand stores, playing with my dogs Zane and Ollie, planning my next vacation or volunteering as a personal shopper for Dress for Success.
