I grew up knowing exactly what I wanted to do for a living and where I wanted to live. After receiving my degree in interior design from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) in Los Angeles, I headed to San Diego to pursue my dream. My education in interior design started at home. As early as age five, I loved to rearrange our living room furniture, and my bedroom was consistently getting a makeover. In high school, my parents gave me free reign over designing their first custom home. It wasn’t long before the neighbors were hiring me on a consulting basis, for design specifications throughout their own homes. Today, as an interior designer, I believe I have a responsibility to perform my work with integrity. That means respecting the environment in every sense of the word: using craftsmen whose work is true to their art forms, working with materials specific to the lifestyles of my clients, and choosing products that are honestly produced and made. My creative process begins by listening to my clients then contemplating how design can make their lives more beautiful. The beauty is in the details; every detail matters. Often, I am drawn to natural and timeless palettes punctuated with rich splashes of color, as the space allows. No one element stands out – the layers and unexpected mix of all elements achieves a harmonious balance.
