Heather Garrett Design specializes in full-service and design strategy projects of decoration and design in NC and beyond. Heather was named a Top 10 “New Traditionalist” by the editors of Traditional Home in 2013, and in addition to House Beautiful her work has been featured in Garden & Gun, Southern Cottage, Rue, and more. Heather lives in Durham with her two children, where she is busy designing for the Modern South and helping with homework. And things are changing for design, that’s for sure. Our homes, now more than ever, are needed for recovery and rest from the lives we are living (and the world we’re living in). The way we spend our time at work, the way we living with our families at home, and the way we communicate…these things are all experiencing a huge shift. There is an online community ready to engage, which (even if overwhelming, at times) is a comforting reminder that we’re not alone. But as my world expands, I’m feeling a desire to create even more of a nurturing environment at home. For me, “To nest is to live!” For designers and clients, we’re finding new ways of connecting while looking at (and solving) design challenges. And creating the very most comfortable, functional, beautiful environments for ourselves at home is becoming more accessible for all.
