David Julian Hansen’s design education began early. His grandmother was a well-known visual artist, and an appreciation for contemporary design and artisan craftsmanship became second nature from the start. After spending his formative years in Colorado, David’s career took off in San Francisco, where he created inventive windows and displays for storied retailers such as Macy’s, FAO Schwartz, and Louis Vuitton. For David, transitioning from visual merchandising to designing interiors was a natural progression. A decade later David began a longstanding partnership with industry leader Segale Bros, working with high-profile clients to design custom cabinetry and award-winning interiors. Then in 2005, David co-founded Ashfield Hansen Design, an interior design firm that allowed him to marry the architectural precision learned from years designing kitchens and baths, with the drama of visual merchandising.
