Barbara Saskia was born in Zurich, Switzerland. She came to New York City in 1992 to study jazz voice at the Manhattan School of Music. After leading her own Brazilian jazz band for many years she decided to follow her passion for interior design and obtained her formal design education from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. After graduating she worked as a junior designer for Barbanell & Sands Interiors before founding her own firm in 2004. She was also designing for the design firm “pret-a-habiter”, completing many successful residential design projects in the New York City metropolitan area. Thanks to my background in music I’m very familiar with the concept of rhythm, harmony and the development of a theme. It helps me to create interiors which are meaningful and bring to the light a client’s inner music, be it a song or symphony!
