While managing a 230+ luxury marina in her home town of Montauk, New York, Ashley discovered her passion for interior design. The marina office decor did not reflect the level of the clients they were servicing. So given the reigns to renovate, she realized that getting off the dock and into design would be a better fit! Transitioning into interior design via retail proved to be an ingenious idea. Managing a high-end home store gave her the chance to work closely with both customers and designers. All with different styles, personalities, and budgets it was an invaluable experience for her. Responsible for merchandising, it allowed her to experiment with styling, scale, color and texture. It was her favorite part of the job. For two years she put her passion on hold to start her family and to design and build her own home. Soon after, she was hired as design assistant to a Sag Harbor based interior designer which offered her the ability to further understand the business, work with trade professionals and get a firm grasp of the design process where she discovered her own sense of style. ?
