Katrina Owens is a very bright, capable young woman who shows great promise and the ability to organize various events. While interning at Mid-Atlantic Events Magazine, as a Special Event Planner, she designed signage, such as 'save the date' flyers, brochures, invitations and other stationary. Katrina also communicated with sponsors, exhibitors, vendors, media and other participants in the events, particularly those included in the 14th Annual Taste and Tour of the Countryside, the Bartender’s Ball, and Dine-Around. All events involved Event and Meeting Planners within the region coming together to enjoy the various venues and services available to them and their clients within the area. While working as an intern, Katrina did research for venue locations, sponsorship, and other information to help our events be more successful. She communicated with all contributors throughout the planning process leading up to the event. During her internship, Katrina also persuaded two local media news stations to compete over who would host and emcee at a very well-received event Mid-Atlantic Events Magazine sponsors While planning and organizing the beginning stages of The 14th Annual Taste and Tour of the Countryside, Katrina recruited nationally known sponsors, and confirmed celebrity chefs and other participants to join in the festivities. This largely attended annual regional event was a huge hit this past fall with boasting over 2800 attendees, our largest turnout thus far.Though most of Katrina's time was spent organizing and coordinating this 14th annual charity event including some of the regions finest caterers and hospitality related companies, she also worked on several other smaller scale events. I would highly recommend Katrina for the dedication and creativity she will bring to any organization. She has proven her ability for Event Planning, and will certainly bring her enthusiasm and passion to your company." Katie O'Connell Director of Sales & Marketing-Mid-Atlantic Events Magazine (hospitality industry publication/event planning) “I believe Katrina’s personal attributes of creativity, flexibility, openness, independence, analytical thinking and enthusiasm for all she partakes in that I have keenly observed in the manner in which she has fully embraced her study abroad experience, coupled with her strong communication, organizational and cognitive capacities that she has demonstrated throughout the course, make for a wonderful future employee. I know Katrina would love to work in Event Planning and can envision her thriving in the role of Event Planner. Katrina is the kind of person who will do well at everything she puts her heart into – she is highly talented, tenacious and has a lovely manner about her that will take her far. I wish her every success and highly recommend her to future employers.” ?Dr. Sarah L. Barker, BBSc.(Hons), D.
