I have a passion for design and the creative world in several areas. After completing an Associate’s degree from Reinhardt College and looking into creative schools, it was difficult to decide what design discipline I wanted to pursue. profile pic While contemplating my next venture I was approached by a mural and faux finish artist to apprentice with her and help expand her business. The opportunity to utilize my artistic skills quickly became a new love which grew into my own successful faux finish business that I have built over the past 12 years. The harsh chemicals and labor intensive work began to wear on me, this combined with the downturn in the economy was perfect timing for me to return to school and follow my original love of design and complete an interior design degree from SCAD. By cultivating my design style, I’ve learned that I value a smart clean aesthetic that places importance on quality craftsmanship, respects and embraces the natural environment while promoting inventive solutions. The additional courses and workshops I’ve taken on biophilic design and biomimicry has become a true passion and focus the past year. Basing my senior capstone project around healthcare, I’ve also discovered a strong desire to improve the quality and design in the healthcare field. Fueling my creative nature is a love for travel and exposure to different cultures. Studying abroad in Hong Kong was an unbelievable experience that I will always cherish. I’ve journeyed to several other countries and each time have gained a wealth of knowledge and ideas as well as appreciation. I also have an obsession with chairs… yes I think I could fill an entire house with designer chairs.
